The restaurant we need now is something we don’t have here in South Florida. I’m talking about a place with zero pretension, that’s not a “burger bar.” I’m talking about a place that is casual, that’s not a “sports grill.” I’m talking about a place with local, fresh, simple ingredients and menu items that’s not a “bistro” on Atlantic Ave with a valet where you only fit in if you have tons of plastic surgery and a fat bankroll. I’m talking about a place with affordable wines by the bottle and craft beers on tap that’s not a “hookah bar.” I’m talking about a place that screams “modern and here and now” that’s not “nouveau-Tuscan or some other analogous play on words. I’m talking about a place that takes advantage of the South Florida climate that’s not “waterfront-overpriced-seafood-dock-your-boat-here.” Now, there are restaurants like this in Miami, see http://www.michaelsgenuine.com/, http://www.giginow.com/, http://www.redlightmiami.com/, or possibly http://runchickenrun.com/ (haven’t been yet), but we should not have to go to Miami for this experience. We need it here, now. Let’s take an old house off of Lake Ave or along Dixie Hwy in West Palm, buy it for cheap, and do it right. Who wants to invest?
