I started taking turmeric once daily about a year ago, and I highly recommend it. I am not a health nut, as you know, but I do take a few supplements, one of them being turmeric. Turmeric has been used in India and the middle east for hundreds of years, obviously, in cooking, but also for the health benefits. It is an anti-inflammatory and and is good for the skin, and recent studies have shown that Turmeric may also actually prevent melanoma, the form of skin cancer that my grandfather lost his battle with a few years ago. It is a natural painkiller and fat-metabolizer, and has been used in Chinese medicine for the treatment of depression. It also may slow the spread of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. It is good for your brain. I have found that my short term memory is noticeably improved since starting a Turmeric regiment. Anyway, that is my public service announcement for today.
